Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We hope you are well in these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. We feel for all those who have been directly affected and wish them and their families well. As we are at the start of the symposium year, we wanted to update you on the current HPLS&A 2021 preparations.
HPLS&A cycle has been shifted one year. We are very happy for the opportunity to continue our symposium plans in Prague. With the strong interest received from both the scientific community and industry, HPLS&A promises to be a highly successful and memorable event.
The Organizing Committee, together with the PCO C-IN, are currently continuing efforts to organize the symposium as a physical event in Prague, while monitoring the latest COVID-19 situation in the Czech Republic and beyond together with the guidelines and precautions that may need to be followed.
Therefore, we are happy to announce that the Abstract Submission is now open! Click here to check the abstract submission guidelines.
Although the current situation regarding the pandemic is serious in most European and many other countries, the new availability of vaccines brings hope that our way of life will return back to normality by the middle of this year. Nevertheless, we want to ensure you that we do also have several backup options in case the pandemic situation will not allow us to organize HPLS&A as a physical meeting in September. The final decision on further steps will be made in May 2021 with us still believing in the physical meeting option. We will keep you informed at the earliest opportunity.
Please continue to visit our website as we continue to update new information relevant to XXIII HPLS&A Symposium in 2021.
We wish you happy, healthy and successful year 2021. We are truly looking forward to seeing you at the XXIII HPLS&A Symposium in September!
Dear fellow colleagues and friends,
Welcome to the XXIII International Symposium on High-Power Laser Systems and Applications (HPLS&A 2020) to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, in new dates - 20-24 September 2021.
It is our great honor and pleasure to organize this important scientific event again in the very heart of Europe. Prague, “The City of a Hundred Spires”, is well known to people from all over the world and ranks among the most beautiful historical cities in Europe. Please, join HPLS&A 2020 and let the Bohemian allure and fairytale features of Prague inspire you, just as it inspired many significant artists and scientists in the past…
Starting from 1976, for more than forty years GCL&HPL (since 2012 renamed to HPLS&A) has always provided an excellent opportunity for researchers, engineers and end-users of high power lasers to exchange ideas, review the state-of-the-art and foresee emerging trends in the field.

To continue in this tradition, HPLS&A 2021 aims to bring together presentations on fundamental as well as engineering aspects of innovative laser technologies along with their novel scientific and hi-tech industrial applications. As usual, it will be an open forum for the discussion of technological bottlenecks, enabling concepts, original ideas, and networking.
HPLS&A 2021 will focus on the following topics:
Advanced gas lasers including DPAL
Ultra-high intensity lasers
High-power solid-state lasers
Fiber lasers and beam combining
Chemical and excimer lasers
Raman and Brillouin lasers
Laser applications/macro and micro processing including 3D printing in metals
Space applications, LIDAR
Novel concepts and modelling
Laser beam control
Keynote and Invited lectures will highlight the most recent advances and research trends in high power lasers development and applications. We wish you to enjoy the rich scientific program composed of Oral talks, Posters and brainstorming discussions with your colleagues.
Welcome to the HPLS&A 2021, and have a great time in Prague!
